- Christmas commercials
Christmas commercials of big brands every year are a wonderful opportunity not only for larger-scale holiday sales, but mainly for creative expression and messages that touch the heart. Usually they feature popular actors, and this year, what is different is the inclusion of AI.
Disney
We start with Disney’s charming duo “The Boy and the Octopus”. The commercial presents both the magic of Christmas and the magic of Disney in one. A touching story that makes us travel to a fairy-tale world of shared joy with which we experience the holidays. The octopus explores the world beyond the sea in a charming way, together with the boy, until Santa Claus, a sleigh and a touching act finally appear. What distinguishes the commercial from others is that there are no bells and sleighs, no sweaters and scarves, no luxury. A pure and fabulous story, told in a Disney style.
John Lewis
No collection of ads would be complete without John Lewis. This year their Christmas ad features Death in Paradise star Margaret Clooney trying to find the perfect Christmas present for her sister. She stumbles upon a magical portal that takes her on a journey through the siblings’ memories.
There are surreal elements to the film. As the woman reminisces about her sister through the prism of childhood and adolescence, she returns to the real world, having finally chosen the right gift, and meets her sister outside the store. What’s new in the ad is that it shows a John Lewis store (from which the gift is from).
The final caption of the ad is “The secret to finding the perfect gift? Know where to look.”
Barbour
One of the funniest ads with a dose of humor and a pinch of mischief is this one from Barbour. Shaun the Sheep and his cheeky gang return to Mossy Bottom Farm. Imagine flying scarves, sheep causing chaos and that cozy country charm that Barbour has perfected over the years. It feels like a little holiday movie with Barbour’s iconic scarves, gloves and hats. Whether you’re a die-hard Barbour fan or just someone looking for a little festive cheer, it’s impossible not to smile at this ad.
Tesco
British supermarket Tesco tells the story of Gary, whose Christmas spirit changes the world around him after his grandfather gives him a pack of Tesco gingerbread men. As the festive spirit increases, Gary’s environment transforms into a magical and colorful landscape. Suddenly, everything seems to fall apart when the boy realizes how much he misses his grandmother and remembers their tradition of making a gingerbread house. Eventually, Gary and his grandfather get together to keep the tradition alive, and they put a gingerbread house on the table.
Teleflora
One of the touching commercials is this one from Teleflora, which is also called “The Power of Wishes” and also raises money to help sick children.
Matty is hospitalized during the holiday season. He is alone in the hospital and just wants to be with his father. At one point, he has a magical encounter with a snowman. Meanwhile, there is something quite unusual about this particular snowman…
The Entertainer
The toy retailer The Entertainer uses humor to capture the deep love that children have for their toys. The brand’s biggest Christmas ad campaign yet features the adorable character Ray, a once-loved toy who now feels lost as his owner turns her attention to a remote-controlled monster truck.
Boots
Despite mixed reviews of this year’s Boots ad, it remains one of the best. It stars Bridgerton star Ajoa Ando as Mrs. Claus, the hero behind Christmas. While Santa is asleep, Mrs. Claus and her team of elves are busy preparing presents for the big day. The presents, of course, are from Boots.
Coca-Cola – “Holidays Are Coming” (AI versions)
Coca-Cola has once again stirred up dispute with its groundbreaking AI-generated ads. Despite mixed reactions, the ads continue to symbolize the arrival of the holiday season. Coca-Cola’s holiday spirit features snowy landscapes, festive animals and iconic Coca-Cola trucks, while adding a futuristic twist with AI-generated visuals, including digital actors.
The campaign demonstrates how AI can speed up production while maintaining creativity and tradition. By eliminating the need for costly live filming on snowy locations, Coca-Cola leverages AI’s ability to create captivating, heartwarming visuals in record time. From polar bears emerging from winter forests to the familiar sight of Santa Claus, these ads showcase the brand’s tradition while exploring new possibilities with technology.
Waitrose “Sweet Suspicion”
One of the most interesting commercials is that of Waitrose. It features popular actors, and the commercial itself is divided into two parts and shows a detective investigation of a missing pudding. The second part, with the answer to the riddle from the first, is expected during the holidays. An unconventional approach that prolongs interest and attention to the brand.
Cartier
The Cartier commercial was also commented on and approved. It was directed by Damien Chazelle and recreates the festive atmosphere well, immersing us in the elegance and class of Cartier.
The selected commercials not only promote the companies’ products, but also convey universal messages of love, sharing and kindness, which are at the heart of the Christmas spirit. They remind us of the importance of shared moments and simple joys. That is why these are some of the commercials that people do not miss, but watch with interest.
